Attorneys and Prosecutors Begin Process of Extradition against Tate Brothers

The process is likely to take months and will involve legal challenges to prevent the pair being extradited.
A date for a bond hearing will be set, along with other important dates for filings and a formal hearing.
The Tates are being held in a federal detention center near the courthouse. They have made a single brief appearance in court since their arrest on 18 July.
The White House has already confirmed that it will not help the brothers.

The charges in the UK allege the Tates raped and trafficked women between 2010 and 2017. In addition to charges brought against them in 2025, which involve alleged crimes against three women, the Crown Prosecution Service is bringing 38 additional charges against “four further victims.”
Andrew and Tristan Tate, who have dual US and British citizenship, moved to Romania in 2016, and amassed a significant social-media following. Andrew Tate currently has more than 10 million followers on X.
They were arrested in Romania in 2022, after being accused of sexual exploitation and trafficking. After a period of imprisonment, they were allowed to leave Romania in 2025.
They have denied all accusations against them.
Joseph McBride, a lawyer representing the Tates, called the new charges “filth and slander” and said they were intended to sabotage defamation cases brought by his clients in the US.
“They’re pulling out all the stops to make sure these guys never get their day in court,” McBride said.
“We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, and once the Department of Justice confronts this egregious abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free. America does not do Britain’s political dirty work.”
During last week’s hearing, McBridge said the Tates should remain in the US.
“We are of course objecting to extradition because Andrew and Tristan are innocent. They’ve never done nothing wrong. They shouldn’t be extradited for crimes they did not commit.”
